Mental Skills – Destroy Fear

Success whether in business, sports, or any endeavour is made up of 2 components :

Have you ever noticed how some athletes, time and time again continue to make big plays even during crucial moments. How some entrepreneurs during the most tough economic cycles start companies and let it soar like eagles. They are not perfect every time, but they are consistent in producing outstanding results, especially when it matters most.
Those who remain at the top, were blessed with talent, but that doesn’t explain their consistent success. A large part of their success comes from being able to control their mind and direct their focus even under attack in sports and Business.

The prospect of becoming a successful businessman, athlete or parent begins with your ability to Control and Direct your Mind.
The foundation for growth and success begins with mastering and directing your mind, with a directed focus, a clear purpose, and a strong burning desire, to improve you can reach levels you once thought were impossible. One of the greatest gifts we have is our brain.
Scientists are only now starting to learn that we are not at the mercy of our genes or our environment. Even as adults our brains are constantly ready and willing to change and learn.
Imagine your brain as a muscle that you can either strengthen or allow to become weak. Once you realise this and you understand the process, you can train your brain to produce consistent results.

1. AWARENESS 

 

. It all starts with knowing yourself.
. A strong leader is one who is aware of what they are good at, and what they are not, and reacts accordingly.
. Self awareness will help you empathise with others. Do not expect people to be perfect, think about what motivates you, and focus on imparting those motivation on others. You can use awareness to help you see your own shortcomings. End your day by reflecting on what went wrong and why. Then you are well on your way to become a better person and stronger leader. Awareness will help you create trust with others, they will appreciate you more by realising you pay attention to their needs. Awareness will take you to a level where you can openly acknowledge what you do not know.
It will make other people feel safe to do the same. Human beings feel comfortable being honest and that will let Performance surge.

 

2. BELIEF SYSTEMS 

 

. How our meanings affects our Destiny :
. What is a belief? It is a feeling of certainty about what something means.
All personal Breakthroughs begin with a change in beliefs. The moment we begin to honestly question our beliefs and the experiences we assign to them, we no longer feel absolutely certain of them.
This opens the door for and to replace old disempowering beliefs with new beliefs that support you in the direction you want to go!
Here is a few examples of Empowering Beliefs you can implement immediately :
The Past Does Not Equal The Future

If I Can’t, I Must, If I Must, I Can
Everything Happens For A Reason And A Purpose That Serves Me

3. SELF TALK

 

. The was quality of your life is determined by the quality of communication you have.
The internal dialogue in your brain.
Do check out a great book by Shirzad Chamine called Positive Intelligence!
He refers to negative thoughts and fears as saboteurs in your mind. They normally manifest in early childhood and shaped your outlook on the world.
The use of positive affirmations daily will fight these saboteurs and compell you to more positive actions. Here is a few examples of positive affirmations you can start to use immediately :
Every Day In Every Way, I Get Better And Better ;
I Am A Leader ;
I Will Create Not Destroy ;
I Am A Force For Good ;
Defy The Odds

 

4.  VISUALISATION 

 

To have a crystal clear picture in your mind of the end result that you want. You can add sound to that picture, bring the image closer, make it even bigger and brighter!
First of all what is the distinguishing factor between someone who takes action and someone who doesn’t?
Only one word CERTAINTY!
If you are absolutely certain that you will get the result you want, and that result would be life changing, you will take massive Action.. On the other hand if you are absolutely sure that no matter what you do, it just won’t work, then you are not going to spend any time making much effort. Most of us are somewhere in the middle of “Maybe it Will Work and Maybe it Won’t”
The key is to create absolute certainty – to fuel yourself with the belief that you will accomplish what you set out to, no matter what is busy happening in the external world.
The power of imagery training is to see your Goal vividly over and over again as it had already happened. The brain doesn’t know the difference between what is imagined and the actual reality (you create that reality)

 

5. CENTERING 

 

Centering is an ancient visualisation technique. It teaches you to focus on the hear and now, taking power away from outside concerns and negative thoughts,helping you to remain stable and grounded.
You can use centering to improve your focus and manage stress before an exam, big presentation or a sporting event.

THE 3 CENTERING METHODS

1. Focus on your breathing.
. . Focus on breathing deeply, using your diaphragm to draw air all the way down to your lungs.
2.  Find your center :
. . Locate your” physical center of gravity” which in centering is visualised as being two inches below your naval. Become familiar with your center and try to remember what it feels like. You’ll probably find that you feel grounded and stabilised by focusing your mind on this part of your body.
3. Redirect your energy :
.  Finally channel your energy into achieving your goal. Imagine all of the energy in your body flowing into your center. Find some imagery, make it exiting.
As you inhale, Say, “I Let….” and as you exhale, say”…. Go”
To summarise, 80% of success is due to psychology – Mindset, beliefs, and emotions – and only 20% is due to strategy – the specific steps needed to accomplish a result. To become a successful entrepreneur you’ll need more than just a great product, a plan, or a market, you need the ability to see opportunities, to be creative, innovative, to overcome fears, and the willingness and persistence to turn ideas in your mind into physical reality.
With the right vision, passion and Mindset, your chances of success are exponentially greater no matter what the external business climate.
